Sunset Divers is excited to offer the opportunity of a Divemaster Internship to enthusiastic, fit, hardworking divers over the age of 18 who want to gain experience in the dive industry and earn their first level of professional dive certification: PADI Divemaster. The minimum requirement to begin the Divemaster Internship is the PADI Rescue Diver Certification, First Aid Certificate with CPR within the last 2 years, a medical statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months and at least 40 logged dives.
You are also required to complete the Divemaster & Dive Theory eLearning courses online through the PADI website. During the eLearning you will complete eight knowledge development sections using a web-based program that allows you to learn at your own pace. You will also have access to an online version of the Divemaster manual for reference during and after the course. The cost of the Divemaster and Dive Theory eLearning is paid direct to PADI upon registration.
We recommend a minimum of one month to a maximum of 3 months to complete the internship. The longer you stay, the more extensive your work experience will be and the more skills you will gain. You will be expected to treat the internship as you would a real job and be available to work 7:00am to 5:00pm daily, with days off randomly assigned. Additional costs will be the purchase of the Divemaster Crew Pack and your application fees to PADI. The cost of the Internship is $1,200. For further Internship details in regards to accommodation, immigration and staying on island for an extended period of time, please email direct.
For visiting dive instructors who wish to train students at Sunset House (whether its referral dives or continuing education.) It’s important to know our policy. All instructors must be in “active” teaching status and we require a copy of professional diving liability insurance with Sunset House / Sunset Divers named on the additionally insured section. Without this training cannot be conducted unless it is by a Sunset Divers Instructor.
It is important that you are comfortable in water, that is too deep to stand and capable of treading water for 10 minutes, swim 200 meters of any style, and physically fit to dive medically. Click here for our Diver Medical Participant Questionnaire.
