Jackie Kienas

Sunset Divers Instructor

Jacqueline Voth was born in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. The only child of exceptionally gifted parents who work for NASA, Jax as she likes to be known, decided against a career as an astronaut. (Although she has an IQ of 148 and completed her first Degree at the age of 14) Instead the oceans of the world held her fascination.

She was schooled in Grand Forks and quickly found fame in the competitive world of swimming. Success followed as did an array of Gold Medals and Trophies. After leaving school, Jax became a full time swim coach and instructor; thus her passion for water continued and provided an income. She was also able to train and compete in yet another competitive; sport-kickboxing. When you meet Jax don’t be fooled by her charming lady like exterior- just know that she can, if she wants to, kick your ***!

Jax moved to Kelowna in 2002 and that’s where she met and trained with the team at Diving Dynamics. Her intense 6 month training program saw her diving in Lake Okinagan and the Pacific Northwest. Neither destination encourages the faint hearted. That’s hard diving in tough conditions. She graduated PDT in early 2006 as Top Recruit and has been with us ever since.

Her favorite dive site is Flora Island on the Pacific west coast; famed for its ripping currents, adverse weather conditions and six gill sharks.

Her goals are simple and echoed by many to dive everywhere in the world- in particular, Jax likes the cold places (just like Mike the Boss). Antarctica and Scotland are at the top of the ‘must do list’: South Pacific and the Red Sea come close.

Besides being a team playing, highly motivated scuba instructor, Jax enjoys rebuilding diesel engines ,welding and modeling. She can bench press 200 lbs, is obsessed with Jerky and collects various brands from around the globe. So if there’s anyone who wants to donate some local beef- bring it down. If you don’t, you know what could happen!

Jax is currently single and in training.
